Yoshimitsu

Yoshimitsu is a fictional character originally created for the Tekken series of fighting games, designed by Namco. Yoshimitsu made his first appearance in Tekken, and he has returned for all subsequent sequels to that game since his inception. Additionally, an analogous character bearing the same name, weapon, clan and basic information, was later carried over into Namco's Soul Series of fighting games as a secret character, making his debut in Soulcalibur and returning for Soulcalibur II and Soulcalibur III. It can also be noted that he looks different in every game he is in, although his 'Player 2' costumes in the Tekken series are generally similar. He can also be customized with items to look like his Tekken 3 costume in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, he also sports the kanji which means "void". Yoshimitsu is one of only four Tekken characters (the others being Heihachi Mishima, Nina Williams and Paul Phoenix ) to have appeared in every game in the series.

Yoshimitsu makes his first appearance in 1994's Tekken. In the game's story, Yoshimitsu enters the first tournament as a decoy, so that Kunimitsu and the other members of the Dura-Anti Manji clan can steal the tournament's funds unobserved. Yoshimitsu learns a sumo wrestler called Ganryu who engaged in fraud and other corrupt activity is was also in the tournament. This base disrespect for the sumo code infuriates Yoshimitsu, and he defeats Ganryu, steals his fortune and distributes it among the poor. When Kunimitsu is expelled from the clan and turns to the rival Kazuya Mishima for aid, Yoshimitsu attack the Mishima. Though Yoshimitsu loses his arm in the battle, the doctor Boskonovitch helps the injured ninja escape an fits him with a mechanical prosthetic.

In Tekken 2, Yoshimitsu learns that Doctor Boskonovitch has been kidnapped by the Mishima Zaibatsu, and enters the second Tekken tournament to rescue him. Kunimitsu returns to the tournament in order to steal the clan's tachi and assume the role of leader of the Manji ninjas once and for all. Yoshimitsu defeated Kunimitsu, and dropps out of the tournament to rescue the Doctor after learning his location. Yoshimitsu reappears in Tekken 4, Tekken 5, and Tekken 6 to avenge his friends and to form alliances between the Zaibatsu and the Manji Party.

Yoshimitsu's sword was originally depicted as a standard katana, and continues to be in Namco's artwork. However, from Tekken 3 onward, it has the appearance of a lightsaber (although in some Tekkens like Tekken 4 the other costume has a normal katana). In Kunimitsu's Tekken 2 story, it is revealed that the blade is passed down through the Manji party's leaders. The previous leader is ritually sacrificed, and the blade absorbs their power and skill.

He was 65 years old in Tekken 2
